  Quick Reference:
  • LifeRing is independent and self-supporting.
  • No officer, board member, convenor, or staff person of LifeRing is paid for their services.  All work is done by volunteers.
  • There is no charge to attend LifeRing recovery meetings, but a basket will usually be passed for voluntary donations.  There are no dues to belong.
  • Meetings generally contribute their excess funds above room rent and meeting expenses to the LifeRing Service Center.  The Service Center rents an office, maintains the national telephone and fax lines, provides referral and information services, distributes brochures and meeting supplies, organizes workshops, maintains the LifeRing national web sites, and provides a variety of other services to LifeRing meetings, members and the public.
  • LifeRing is a non-profit charitable entity and donations are tax-deductible [501(c)(3)].  Donations or bequests may be made to LifeRing Inc. and sent to the LifeRing Service Center.  Donations in excess of $20 will be acknowledged in writing.  Our federal tax ID number is 94-3267919.  Donations may also be made via credit card online.
  • LifeRing's 501(c)(3) determination letter and renewal letter  are available for viewing online
  • For a detailed discussion of how LifeRing meetings handle money, see Chapter 6 in How Was Your Week.
