We are pleased to announce a new meeting will be starting in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan – our first in the Detroit area – this Saturday, September 9th.

The meeting’s convenor, Alan, took it upon himself to start this meeting on his own, first by securing a meeting space at the gracious Birmingham Unitarian Church and then contacting us to let us know so he would have all of his “t’s” crossed and his “i’s” dotted. We sent him our New Meeting Starter Kit, and kaboom! New meeting started. The rest, we hope, will have a long and happy history!

Here’s all the information:

New Meeting Friday Mornings in Longmont, CO Starts Tomorrow!

We’re thrilled to announce that our dynamic LifeRingers in Colorado have done it again! They reached out to the Behavioral Health Group in Longmont, which specializes in opiate addiction treatment using multiple pathways, including MAT (Medication Assisted Treatment) therapy, who were extremely receptive to the recovery approach that LifeRing offers and starting a meeting in their facility.

In addition to serving with their community, they’ve also been reaching out to correctional institutions in their area to offer inmates hope for recovery, and we couldn’t be more grateful to become a part of their outreach.

This meeting will serve the patients receiving treatment at their center and is also open to the public.

Here’s all the meeting information:

When: Fridays at 6:00 AM – first meeting is on 7/28/17

New ‘In the Rooms’ LifeRing Video Meeting!

We could not be more thrilled to tell you that after months of work with our contact at In the Rooms, a well-established online recovery community, we have been invited to host a video meeting on their site right along with all the other groups currently available to anyone seeking recovery.

While In the Rooms is a derivative of and still largely dominated by the 12 Step meeting format, they have become increasingly open to multiple pathways to recovery, and we’re very thankful to them for including us along with other non-12 Step groups such as SMART Recovery and Women for Sobriety, among others.

LifeRing Chat Room Meeting convenor Penny Pulz took up the mantle of getting us set up there, and the first meeting was this past Tuesday. Here’s what she wants to tell us about how it went:

“Hi Lifers,

Penny Pulz here. I did the first LifeRing meeting on InTheRooms on Tuesday. What a positive experience. We had 20 people there and they where thanking me for having another secular meeting on ITR.

Some of the comments from the participants:

‘I like how you describe having a natural conversation instead of feeling like I could never speak.’

‘I like the simple Addict / Sober self and talking to the sober self.’

‘I like that ITR is having more choices, and I will be back next week.’

‘You were clear about what secular is.’

You could of knocked me over with a feather after the meeting. I was prepared wearing my negative deflector… My invisible ‘teflon raincoat’… It was an uplifting experience to hear that LifeRing is a welcome group on ITR.”
