PROBLEMS ENTERING THE LIFERING WEB PAGES?

As you may (or may not!) have noticed, the LifeRing website has gone
live with the long-awaited new version.

Some of the history of the new site’s development is available on Marty’s blog post about the new site, via the new website’s front page: http://lifering.org/2010/06/new-website-design/

There will be some challenges in the beginning, and the website will grow and become better. Please be patient as we navigate the new waters!

To make entry into the new website easier, take the following steps:

A. Make a note of the new website location at: http://lifering.org/
and the new chat location at: http://lifering.org/chat-room/

Typing in www.lifering.org should redirect you to the new site without having to type in the “wp” for “WordPress”, but if it does not, you may have to take additional steps.

B. Delete any old links and bookmarks and favorites and shortcuts to
the homepage and to the old chat page. After a few days they may no
longer work.

C. Accept any ActiveX control requests from your browser. (This may
appear in your toolbar, just above the browser window, or via a
message from your browser or your anti-virus or security suite).

D. Navigate to a site well outside the LifeRing universe. How
about… http://health.nih.gov/category/SubstanceAbuse which is a
good resource to have anyway. You need to clear cache and history
from within a website OTHER than the ones you are trying to navigate
to or from in order for it to work correctly.

E. Clear your computer’s temporary files, internet history and cache. There is a useful article at Wikihow: Clear Your Browser’s Cache if the information below is insufficient.

F. Make a note of any broken, misdirecting and old links. You may need to clear your browser history several times over the next couple of weeks as
links are repaired.

G. If you are still unable to enter any of the pages on the new website, please email webmaster@lifering.org and give your relevant online name and a full description of the problem.

Thanks again for your patience!
