Fundraising Update and New Challenge
Greetings LifeRing Community!
We are humbled by the generous response from those of you who donated to LifeRing as part of our annual Day of Giving fundraiser. Here’s an update on where we stand and our new financial goal for the end of 2020.
Changes since COVID-19: LifeRing offers a secular method of supporting people in substance abuse recovery around the world. The onset of COVID-19 has increased the need for LifeRing's important mission while also requiring a shift from in-person meetings to online formats. Our online meetings have been highly successful in maintaining our support systems while keeping us socially distant. However, our prior in-person fundraising method of "passing the hat," which has been key to LifeRing's operational budget, has not been available to us.
Where we are now: As we look to close out a very active 2020, LifeRing is operating in a budget deficit and we need your help. This week, we raised over $2,000! But if we can raise a total of $8,000 before the end of the year, we will be able to make up for our deficit and enter 2021 with healthy finances to continue with our mission. This money will be used to fund meeting operational costs, provide materials for Convenors, maintain our critical part-time staff role, and much more!
How you can help: Please consider donating what you might have donated in all of 2020, had you been able to attend in-person meetings. Some LifeRing donors say they calculate their donations as a small percentage of what they might have spent in the past on substances. Others donate an amount that represents the value that LifeRing has provided to them, to the ones they care about, or to many others all over the world.
We want to make this very clear: YOUR donation matters. Please donate today so that we can continue to empower those seeking freedom from drugs and alcohol. LifeRing is a US 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax-deductible!
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Lorraine Hull and Dan Carrigan
