The new year is taking up where the old year left off, with new LifeRing meetings springing up in Oregon and California.

In Albany, Oregon, John E. reports that a second meeting in that city is starting January 4th, and every Tuesday after that, at the Albany Public Library from 10 to 11 a.m. The library is located at 2450 14th Ave. SE and the meeting will take place upstairs in study room 3. The Tuesday meeting joins the original Albany meeting held on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. at Ray’s Food Place, 621 NW Hickory Ave.

And in Modesto, CA, Troy S. is beginning the first meeting there on Friday evenings at 6:30 starting on Jan. 7. The meeting will be held for now at a home, 1905 Kienitz Ave in Modesto.

Both meetings have been posted to the “Find Meetings” section of this website, where contact information can be found.

    Terrie,
There’s lots of information about LifeRing at this site, including information on how to order the book “Empowering Your Sober Self” by Martin Nicolaus. That book gives an excellent overview of LifeRing.

I anticipate a lot of 12-step bashing at our first meetings for 12-step “survivors” such as myself. How do you gracefully redirect attendees to recovery? Would it be okay to set up a separate meeting for people to vent about bullying they’ve received at 12-step meetings?
