September is National Recovery Month, and LifeRing actively participated in several community events to promote healing, hope, and transformation in recovery.

San Francisco, CA

Longtime LifeRingers Robert S. and Michael A. (pictured) attended the San Francisco Recovery Fair at Father Alfred E. Boeddeker Park on September 12, 2025. Robert, who started his LifeRing recovery journey in 2006, said that the event was well-attended, and they met almost 100 people. He said that some had stories to share, some had questions, and others were seeking answers.

This is the 2nd year that LifeRing has been represented at this event, and it was successful in many ways. One way they got the word out about LifeRing was by selling all of the “Recovery by Choice” workbooks they brought and also some volumes of “Humanly Possible.” They also handed out lots of LifeRing wristbands and pamphlets.

Redwood City, CA

LifeRing was also represented at Redwood City’s Proclamation Resource Fair on September 9, 2025 by Robert and Byron K. (pictured). This is LifeRing’s 5th time tabling this well-attended event.

“These events are highly inspirational to me, and I believe I do make a difference in the lives of those people who are seeking a choice in recovery,” Robert said.

Denver, CO

LifeRing also had a strong presence at Denver's Annual Rally for Recovery on September 19-20, 2025, which was larger than ever!

LifeRing online convenor Lorraine H,. was joined at the table by LifeRing board member Jonathan M. and former board member Rick T..

The crowd attending this event was incredibly diverse, encompassing all ages, genders, races, and stages of recovery. Attendees ranged from those who had never heard of LifeRing or secular recovery options to those who were familiar but had not yet tried them, as well as individuals who currently attend meetings. This was a fantastic event where hundreds of people celebrated their sobriety journeys, whether it was one day or 30 years, together. Positive vibes were all around when Jonathan and Lorraine shared lots of information about LifeRing Secular Recovery.

Meetings Online and In Person

The most important way that LifeRing builds communities that make a difference to those in recovery is through meetings that put a face and a voice on recovery. Both Michael and Byron are meeting convenors, in-person and online.

Michael runs several in-person meetings on Mondays in San Rafael and Tuesdays in Oakland, California. He also convenes the online meetings OK Boomer at 4:00 pm on Mondays and the Post-Transplant Liver Spot at 5:30 pm Tuesdays.

Byron runs a “How Was Your Week?” meeting in-person at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California at 7:30 pm on Wednesdays, which is a popular format of many of our meetings.

Lorraine convenes two popular online meetings:  The Women's Meeting on Mondays  at 5:30pm Pacific and SNL Early on Saturdays at 5:30pm Pacific.

If you've participated in any Recovery Month events in your area you'd like to share with our readers, let us know! Or think about representing LifeRing whenever you get a chance at any event throughout the year!
