Most years, I reflect on my own personal meaning of Independence Day. I finally made my Declaration of Independence from the tyranny of alcohol, and I now have, not just an opportunity to live in that freedom,  but also a responsibility to remain that way and to share those stars and stripes with others.

Today,  as I look at the many newcomers,  I feel more inclined to celebrate our collective interdepedence. Regardless of where we live, each of us is interdependent on each other. Those with lots of 24 hour periods,  are reliant on the dynamics of those who are brand new. In so many ways,  the universal laws which govern the world, do not always apply to us. In our world, the more riches we give away,  the more we accumulate. What a wonderful world we have created from the ashes of addiction!

Wishing you all joy in the freedom from the miseries of active addiction.

I consider the Life Ring meeting I attend on Fridays, my FNF…”Friday Night Family.” Such a great group, so
    understanding and non-judgmental.
