Anna ATX

My name is Anna Bedolla and I'm seeking election to a Board of Directors seat.

I went into rehab for AUD in August 2020. When I got out, I knew I was going to need ongoing support if I was going to stay sober. Submitting myself to a higher power wasn't going to work for me. I knew that I was the one who got myself into addiction, and I was who was going to see myself out of it. I found LifeRing when I did a Google search for "secular recovery," and knew right away I'd found my "tribe."

I embraced the recommendation of doing 90 meetings in ninety days, which allowed me to try a wide variety of LifeRing meetings. After I was sober for just a little over a year, a convenor asked me if I was interested in taking over her meeting. I remember how terrified I felt running my first meeting! It quickly became the highlight of my week. I've been hosting that meeting ever since, and a couple of years later I started another online meeting.

One of the most important things I learned getting sober was the power and importance of connection. Being among people who share the same goal (abstinence) and who understand that saying "no" to that drink (or drug) is simple but not always easy gave me a safe place to practice being open, honest, and brave.

Sobriety is such a precious, fragile gift. Helping others find it and keep it is a core part of my recovery program. Whether participants in my meetings have hours or decades of sobriety, I heard myself in their stories and voices, their hopes and struggles. It is a joy to walk the path of recovery with so many inspiring people, to support them during their struggles, and to celebrate their successes.

In addition to convening two online meetings, I have previously served on the board, participated in committees, managed and monitored our contact emails ([email protected][email protected]), and helped develop support materials (Strategic Plan, Zoom Bomber training, Convenor Commitment Letter). Recently, I completed training for Peer Support Recovery Specialist, which has been very helpful as a convenor.

I am excited by the prospect of contributing as a member of the Board of Directors. From my previous career, I bring strong communication, business operations, and program management skills. As an active member of LifeRing, I bring lived experience with the LifeRing philosophy of Sobriety, Secularity, and Self-Empowerment and the passion and commitment to share it with anyone and everyone who wants to live soberly. I understand how LifeRing works and why it works and want to help bring our program to as many people as possible.

I respectfully ask for your vote to be a member of the BOD.

Jonathan

I’m Jonathan Magid, and I’m a candidate for Lifering’s Board of Directors.

After 45 years of substance misuse and a mere 30 days in inpatient treatment, I returned home and found my way into a Wednesday evening Lifering meeting online. I knew in that first hour that I had found a group of people who “got it,” and their warm welcome and strong support kept me coming back. That was January of 2023.

I was humbled to have the chance to convene that meeting from late in 2023 through most of 2024, and still attend and step in to host it from time to time. I was equally humbled to join the Board of Directors in 2025 as an appointed member. My goal in seeking a full term with the Board is to contribute to LifeRing’s thriving through fundraising and support for the continued growth of our public profile.

In my professional life, I am a consultant specializing in helping people and teams work together better. I’ve worked with executives, teams, and boards of directors across multiple industries, and have served as a board member for several non-profit, community-based organizations over the years.

I’m incredibly grateful to have found LifeRing. This community has supported my sobriety with warmth and encouragement at every turn. I would be honored to have your vote for Director.

Gratefully,
Jonathan

Travis

My name is Travis Boozer, and I have an irony problem thanks to LifeRing. I am seeking election to a seat on the Board of Directors.

When I logged onto my first LifeRing meeting in December 2022, it felt like that was somehow my “rock bottom.” Little did I know that it would be one of the greatest decisions I ever made and that it would introduce me to some of the strongest, smartest, and funniest people I’ve ever met.

Not long after I began attending meetings, I set up a recurring donation to LifeRing and set my sights on convening my own meeting. I began taking chalk with me on my frequent runs, marking milestones at some random point along the way (eventually promoting the LifeRing website as well). This June, my meeting “All Muse, No Booze” — with an emphasis on how creative endeavors help us in recovery (I compose music for TV and film, too) — will turn 3 years old.

In early 2026, Sue asked me to step into a vacant Board seat, and everyone knows you can’t say no to Sue. Because I am an attorney, I have been serving as the Board’s Legal Liaison the past several months, helping LifeRing navigate some unexpectedly complex and sensitive issues.

I have gotten so much from LifeRing, and giving back is all I know how to do. I would appreciate the opportunity to continue serving on the Board if you'll have me. Thank you.
