Shining a Light on Secular Recovery: LifeRing’s Impact Across California This Recovery Month

Recovery Month 2026 was a season of connection, empowerment, and hope across Northern California! Dedicated LifeRing Secular Recovery convenors hit the ground, tabling at local community events to share a vital message: there is more than one choice that leads to healing.

LifeRing’s framework, rooted in an abstinence-based, secular, and self-empowered philosophy, offers a breath of fresh air for individuals seeking a personal recovery journey that aligns with their values. At event after event, the energy at the LifeRing table was palpable.

 

A typical conversation unfolded with a spark of discovery:

Recovery Seekers: “You mean there is another option besides the 12-step plan to get sober?”

LifeRing Convenors: “Yes! I achieved long-term recovery without relying on a higher power or rigid rules.”

Recovery Seekers: “Please, tell me more about the LifeRing approach!”

Moments like these highlight why present, compassionate outreach matters.

Special recognition goes to Michael A., LifeRing member, Convenor, California Regional Representative, and Board Member, who championed the secular recovery message across Northern California. Michael represented LifeRing at a wide array of vibrant regional events, including:
