Online-Rock-Stars
To Our Extraordinary Online Convenors and Co-hosts:
THANK YOU!
In honor of Volunteer Appreciation Week, we want to take a moment to shine a spotlight on the heartbeat of our online recovery community: You!
Why Your Work Matters
The impact of a LifeRing online convenor goes far beyond keeping the beat and keeping it strong. You provide the essential playlist for successful recovery:
-
- Empowerment: By upholding our "Empower Your Sober Self" philosophy, you help participants find their own voice and strength.
- Consistency: In a world that can feel chaotic, your presence provides a reliable, sober sanctuary for those who need it most.
- Connection: You turn a grid of screens into a LifeRing circle of support, ensuring that no one has to navigate their journey alone.
- Safety: Your skill in creating positive, engaging environments allows for the kind of radical honesty that leads to true healing.
A Legacy of Support
Whether you have been with us for years or if this is your first week supporting a LifeRing online meeting, please know that your time and energy are making a measurable difference. Every share and every supportive nod helps dismantle the stigma of addiction and replaces it with the dignity of recovery.
Thank you for your patience, your empathy, and your unwavering commitment to the LifeRing Community. We are incredibly proud to have you on our team.
Please join us in showing these amazing folks your appreciation:

To Our Extraordinary Online Convenors and Co-hosts:
I used to be a Rock Star but then I quit the drugs and alcohol. Now, as a result of my active participation in a LR Chat group…I am being labelled a Rockstar, again. I thought that Humility was a big part of Sobriety??? I lost my overbearing, grandiose ego. (Tom your Canadian Class Clown.) Happy to assist in any way / shape / or form.
Not to worry, Tom. This is just a single blog in our Volunteer Appreciation Week Series. Here, we’re thanking our Online Convenors for being LifeRing recovery rock stars. We hope you take a bow (humble or otherwise) when we thank our amazing eGroups family!
LifeRing convenors and meetings are amazing!
Like many of us, I found LifeRing through a Google search. Back then, there was no Zoom and the only LifeRing online meeting was hosted on Adobe Connect: A space where folks could sit around and type shares and crosstalk. We’d all diligently watch the little dots signify that someone in the room was actively posting a message. Slow, but sweet in its “we are here! we are here!” kinda way.
It was love at first meeting for me — and that was 100% because of the way I was treated when I joined the “chat”. The convenor made me feel like they had been happily awaiting my arrival and were all very excited that I had finally made it. Wow!
Now I convene online and local LifeRing meetings and I try my hardest to be that convenor — the one who makes you feel like you have finally arrived.
Here’s to all our LifeRing Convenors who keep the door open and lights on. We do good work here, y’all!
